Remembering Sima & Dylan

“When we were all in college in 2018 I remember getting a text from Dylan in our group chat, something along the lines of “Sox standing room tickets are only $100”. It was game 1 of the 2018 ALDS against the Yankees, and it didn’t take a ton of convincing for all of us to grab a ticket. I weirdly remember being in a Dick’s parking lot when he texted us so I walked in, grabbed a Mookie jersey (that held up great), and went back to my place to pack up and drive up to BC to meet up at Matty’s dorm. We all drove up from our different colleges, dropped our stuff, and headed to Fenway. After a couple innings of standing and plenty of beers, we made our way to some open seats on the third base line and watched the end of Chris Sale’s gem that put the Sox up 1-0 in that series. We bounced around to a few of Matty’s favorite BC bars after the game, ordered way too much Chinese food at his apartment later that night, and drove home hungover and happy the next morning. That short text turned into my favorite memory with Dylan and one of the most fun nights I’ve had with the boys”

- Matt Krol

“My all-time favorite memory with Dylan is one that I’ve told him and others many times - the day that we all decided to go to the Sox playoff game. Dylan, Jack, Matt and me, all decided to go together, even living across the state or even different states. In all of 20 minutes, we bought tickets and had plans to sleep at my dorm. That game ended up being such a happy time for us. It embodied our friendship, where out of nowhere, it took a simple text for us to leave our newly formed college friends to all get together to have too many drinks and laughs and watch our favorite team play - the Sox. Throughout the entire game, you know we’re heckling people of the other team, some too young to be heckled, but that was the deal when you wearing an opposing teams jersey in Fenway and Dylan was with you. This is a day that allows me to remember Dylan for many reasons, but especially a video of Dylan singing Dirty Water, which I watch all the time. I think this video embodies D’s compassion in life and his love of the game.”

Submitted Memorials

Name:  Eileen Monaghan

Entry Submitted by:  Kathleen Brooks & Ashley Rouleau

Eileen wore many hats proudly—first and foremost as a devoted mother, as well as a cherished daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, coach, and friend. As one friend beautifully said, “Eileen was the real deal—smart, funny, kind, athletic, authentic, and fiercely loyal,” with a laugh that made you laugh and a heart of gold. Her happiest days were spent with her daughters and her beloved rescue dogs, Penny and Bogie—gardening, cooking incredible meals for those she loved, hiking Mt. Tom, running, singing and dancing in the kitchen with a glass of pinot grigio in hand, listening to Tom Petty or Bruce Springsteen, and always lending a helping hand whenever she could. She was deeply proud of her Irish heritage, honoring it in her home with maps of County Kerry and County Mayo, the land of her parents, and in the way she lived her life. She will always be remembered as a true light—one that continues to shine through all who loved her. Ní bheidh mo leithéid arís ann. There will never be the likes of someone just as special as Eileen.

Name: Jojo Gorecki

Our Jojo was one of those special souls who never believed in judgment or differences. He lived by the motto, "Everybody love everybody," and it was one of the many things that made him so special.

His family was his world, and he treated his friends as an extension of that family. Loyalty was at the heart of who he was, and it shined through in the most genuine kind of love.

To know Joe was to feel accepted, valued, and loved. He had a way of making everyone feel like they belonged, and his kindness left a lasting mark on all who were fortunate enough to know him. We miss him every second of everyday
